LONG ISLAND, NY, MARCH 18, 2009: Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) of Long Island held its annual recognition luncheon at Chateau La Mer in Lindenhurst last week to honor dozens of law enforcement professionals and civilians for their efforts against drunk driving.

Police Officer Michael Corbett of Suffolk County’s 3rd Precinct for his commitment to the Suffolk County DWI Enforcement Team and his efforts supporting DWI laws in 2008. “These individuals are the first line of defense; they enforce the DWI laws and protect us,” said Margaret Rebholz, Vice President of the MADD Long Island Advisory Board.

Awards were given to law enforcement professionals and civilians from Nassau and Suffolk counties who have shown outstanding dedication to DWI enforcement and prosecution. This annual event recognizes and thanks those working hard to keep our communities safe from the potential tragedies of drunk driving.

The luncheon is the first in this year’s events for the campaign to eliminate drunk driving. In May, the 3rd Annual Walk Like MADD 5K will be held on the campus of Farmingdale State College. Go to: www.longislandmadd.org and click on the Walk Like MADD logo for more information.

MADD Long Island is located in Huntington Station. Since 1982 the organization continues its mission to eliminate drunk driving, to assist families and victims affected by drunk driving and to prevent underage drinking.
