I lived in Bay Shore in 1967 to 1973.I can say that it was a different place in the 70s and 60s!I loved living there it was a beautifiul place to grow up As a youth!Remember watching the brady bunch and having a multicultural life which made me tolerant of other people from other walks of life actually i miss living in Bay shore and think of it often as a favorite memory.Remember Mary G Clarkson school ,The music of Santana,My neighborhood baseball team The Santam court sluggers Bell bottoms And Music In the streets And Block parties Every year. Even coming from The hood. All My Friends from this era I miss!Love Bay shore And It Was Sad to leave Such a Good place to grow up In!My Life has changed alot since then but I fondly think Of the santam court Alot!Street games And all, Pete!Say HI!

I grew up in Bay Shore and graduated BSHS in 1979. I had a wonderful childhood. I live in California and tell my children and husband about my childhood all the time. I was home about 5 years ago and went to visit my parent's home. They are both deceased now. I was shocked to see that the house looked like we had just moved out....years later. My family and I went to NY for vacation this past August. I took my son and daughter to see the house I grew up in. I couldn't believe it. The house that was once the best looking on the block was now easily the worst. When I visited 5 years ago I spoke to the owners who bought it from my parents years ago. The only thing they changed was the bathroom. Now, I wouldn't even go near the door. My memories of Bay Shore are the perfect childhood. Kick the can, making snowmen, school orchestra, walking the South Shore Mall, Benjamin's Beach, to the Middle School, High School....playing at Brook Ave. all day during the summer and playing sports in high school....go Marauders. I'm sorry to see all the negative comments about Bay Shore and what it seems to have become. I hope Bay Shore is turned back around.

I grew up in Bay Shore and graduated from the BSHS
in 1972. It was a great place to live. I have been living
in Florida and the last time I was back to "visit" was in the mid-eighties. My kids were young and I wanted to show them where I grew up. I made a special trip on the Fire Island Ferries and drove around town. So many memories. Good memories. I remember playing dodge ball out in the street and my mother saying to come in when the street lights come on, roller skating in the parking lots on Sundays when the "stores were closed", bike riding all over the neighborhood and not worrying. The
neighbors all knew each other and would sit on the front steps and talked. Yes, that was a great time of my life and I am proud to say that is where I am from.

Ah the good ole days of bayshore,I had a chance to stop back after 35 years and yes alot has changed. Where's Gertz.. hahaha Foodfair...that whole section has changed
Progress i guess and yes the bayshore roller rink thats so sad to see it go down..Well I really do miss the good times i had growing up there. South shore mall looks a
little run down but still has its own character.

Hello, I grew up in Bay Shore as well, also Brightwaters, lots of good memories, skating on the brightwaters lakes, going to gardner Manor Elementary school . We belonged to St. Pats church there and I will always remember walking the main street In Bay SHore, all the shops etc. This was late 60's, we all even went to Marydale day camp as a kid. Still have family in ny but I reside in Michigan. NY will always be my home....I have an original poster from the Bay SHore Theatre, that was my moms first job back in the 50's!!

Hi all, I lived in Bay Shore for a while back in the 60"s. I attended 5th Ave. Elem. 63-64. I was walking distance from the school. I remember a little strip mall that had a pharmacy/soda shop. When you walked in, there was a candy counter to light up every kid's eyes. I used to get the taffy at 2 for a nickel!! and cream sodas for a dime that they made right there. Also a few years before that we lived in a big house that was next door to the Bay Shore theater. If anyone has pictures to share that would be great!!

I also attended Fifth Ave. Elementary 68-69 for kindergarten before going to St. Patricks.I live a block away on No. Clinton Ave.I remember that soda shop on Fifth and Howells Rd.They also had a grill there. It's Coyle's Ice Cream shop now.Joe's Pizza is next door where the poultry shop used to be.They also had a German bakery there. It;s hard to find a decent bakery anymore.
