Rink Area [by CWat]

General::Rink Area
I just wanted to know if anyone knows whats being done with the area where the Bay Shore Roller Rink is? My reason for asking is that, I wanted to purchase the rink when i moved up there (from NC) and open another skating rink. Unfortunately the asking price was $3.3mil for it and there was no way i could get it.

I still have the plans ready to go for a roller rink/ roller hockey facility and I am currently looking into a piece of property to lease/buy for it. But seeing as though someone has made the purchase of the old rink, does anyone have information on whether there is going to be a rink rebuilt there or some other type of entertainment facility? I was told by a realtor that the area or the building had to be use for entertainment puposes.

If anyone could update me that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I too was there to many times to count. And I do remember Scotty. And you are right we have to move on and not be sad,although I am. i feel like part of my childhood was taken away. But I do have many fond memories that will last me a life time,or at least until the Alzheimer's kicks in! Thanks for the post

Joe G

General::Bay Shore Roller Rink Demise
Unfortunatly on this day a great tragedy has happened the Bay Shore Roller rink has been demolished. The wrecking crews tore that ever lasting memory of a building down to rubble. It was a sad sight to see the old place fall. But it will last in our memories forever. all the good times had by countless scores of kids and teenagers alike. A legacy started many years ago has fallen. I forever say farewell to a friend.

General::Bay Shore Roller Rink reopening
Does anyone have any new information on the Roller Rink, I am an Islip resident and a father of two boys who I would love to see have the experiences I did as a child at the Roller Rink. One of my sons is currently 15 and I constantly here him and his friends asking the question what do we do tonight. having a place like the rink back would be great.

Any information on its current state would be appreciated I have a few people interested in the project but obviously we are not alone.
